Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about buying a home in London Ontario.

Does it cost anything to work with a buyer's agent in London, Ontario?
Usually not out of pocket. In most London sales the seller's brokerage offers to pay the buyer's brokerage, and since 2023 Ontario requires a written Buyer Representation Agreement that spells out exactly how your agent is paid. Justin walks you through that agreement line by line before you sign it.
Which London neighbourhood is best for buyers right now?
It depends on what you need most. Hyde Park and Fox Hollow suit buyers who want newer family homes in the north end, Old South and Old North suit buyers who want older character homes close to downtown, and East London and Hamilton Road tend to offer the lowest prices in the city. Justin compares them using recent sold prices so you can see the trade-offs clearly.
How long does it take to buy a house in London, Ontario?
Most buyers find a home within one to two months of starting a serious search, and closing usually happens 30 to 90 days after the offer is firm. Getting pre-approved first is the single biggest thing that speeds the process up.
Should I look at towns outside London too?
If price or lot size matters most, yes. Komoka, Kilworth, Dorchester, Strathroy and Mount Brydges are all within a short drive of London and often give you more house or more land for the money. Justin covers those towns as well as the city itself.
